The fact that this is one take is incredible! Amazing scene from an amazing film. Its been 6 months and this film is still constantly in my head. Its an experience just as much as it is a story. It ticks so many boxes. Cinematography, soundtrack, acting. 6:08 warm up is that what people call it now a days. You know what I just don"t get it. For me this book is tragedy and not about summer love. Maybe in movie it"s different but book gave you this hopeless feelings and make you cry So I truly don"t get it. It"s hard to put into words exactly the way I felt watching this film. Hours later it"s hard to even begin to write my opinion on it. To put as simply as I can, the film perfectly captures its setting and atmosphere in a way few films do. The biggest credit needs to be given to director Luca Guadagnino, who is able to capture the smallest of details. Technically, the film is a marvel and I struggle to think of one flaw. It"s beautiful, sensual, luscious in its execution, with absolutely marvelous pacing. In terms of pure directorial achievements, it"s definitely one of the best of the year. The performance of Timothée Chalamet is also a pretty perfect portrayal of the character in the novel, and a completely internal performance that is reminiscent of Rooney Mara"s wonderful work in Carol. Armie Hammer is also quite strong in the role, although it"s a tricky character to get completely right. The novel is told completely through Elio"s eyes and so we only imagine and see Oliver from a distance. He"s more of an enigmatic figure in the novel than a real, tangible person. So much of that is due to the writing and the way Elio sees him as, so in terms of difficulty, I can imagine how Hammer had quite a task on his hands. Due to the literal nature of film, it"s a type of character that always had to lose some of its mystery to its translation from the page, and it"s as good one as can be.
I have so much I want to say about this but still can"t find the right words, but the one thing I will say is that while the story here is pretty simple, the film really does capture, more than any other in recent memory, the feeling of that fleeting force of love and passion that can come to define one"s life. It does so in a melancholic, beautiful way that makes it stand out from others of its kind. I can see why some people wouldn"t take to it (and in fact the almost-unanimous positive reviews surprise me) because at the end of the day, the technical aspects work to create a film that can only be defined by a feeling that some people will experience watching the film and that others won"t. All that sounds incredibly enigmatic, but it"s a difficult feeling to pinpoint and considering the film, I think it"s fitting.

After seeing it I went through days of processing old, deep-set emotions I pushed away at the time to not feel so much pain. It gave me a gift of cathartic processing. And Writer James Ivory & Director Luca Guadagnino bring us a tale on young romance & living life, with honesty & the emotional impact akin to a sledgehammer. And Timothée Chalamet is the find of the year. "Call Me by Your Name" Synopsis: In Northern Italy in 1983, seventeen year-old Elio (Timothée Chalamet) begins a relationship with visiting Oliver (Armie Hammer. his father"s research assistant, with whom he bonds over his emerging sexuality, their Jewish heritage, and the beguiling Italian landscape. We"ve seen love-stories before on Gay people, but not all leave the impact like "Call Me by Your Name" does. This is an honest love-story about a boy and a man, who can"t help but fall in love with each other, despite never coming to the world of their sexuality. And the way Director Luca Guadagnino has shot its leading lovers, is something to watch. There is genuine heartache in its characters & also undeniable love. This is a love-story, that"s sad but also heartfelt at times. James Ivory"s Screenplay is expertly written, offering a story on love & longing, without ever indulging into melodrama. Luca Guadagnino"s Direction is simplistic, but extremely effective. Sayombhu Mukdeeprom"s Cinematography captures the passion of its leading lovers, with gusto. Walter Fasano"s Editing is mostly crisp. Art & Costume Design merit a special mention. Sufjan Stevens"s Score is superb. Performance-Wise: Timothée Chalamet is truly the find of the year. The youngster delivers a searingly beautiful performance of a young man who comes to realize his sexuality to a much older man. Chalamet brings nuance & innocence to the part & stands out from start to finish. He"s truly one actor who deserves strong Oscar buzz for his excellent work here. Armie Hammer also does his best work here. He and Chalamet share a infectious on- screen chemistry, that appears real & affecting. The Wonderful Michael Stuhlbarg is masterful as Chalamet"s dad, who understands his son beyond his silences. Watch him in the penultimate moments & you"ll know his caliber as a performer. Amira Casar as Chalamet"s mom, also is lovely. Esther Garrel as Chalamet"s girl, with whom he experiences sexual episodes, is fantastic. On the whole, Call Me by Your Name" leaves a strong impression. Make time for it.

I love how Everything is perfect and unique, with one small mistake, but otherwise. Great, awesome, romantic film! A. Runtime: 132 M brief: CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, the new film by Luca Guadagnino, is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman. It"s the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17-year-old young man, spends his days in his family"s 17th-century villa transcribing and playing classical music, reading, and flirting with his friend Marzia (Esther Garrel). Elio enjoys a close relationship with his father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, who favor him with the fruits of high culture in a setting that overflows with natural delights. While Elio"s sophistication and intellectual gifts suggest he is already a fully-fledged adult, there is much that yet remains innocent and unformed about him, particularly about matters of the heart. One day, Oliver (Armie Hammer), a 24-year-old American college graduate student working on his doctorate, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio"s father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of the setting, Elio and Oliver discover the heady beauty of awakening desire over the course of a summer that will alter their lives forever countries: France director: Luca Guadagnino 2017 Liked It: 187945 Vote? I don"t resent James Ivory this win, at all. However, why was the author of the book Call Me By Your Name at the ceremony and Greg Sestero wasn"t? ALL of the authors should have received an invitation. This category (and these great movies) wouldn"t even exist without the source material. Supposedly, Sestero was reduced to scrambling around until the last minute trying to get an invite, which is a disgrace. If a book was worthy enough to be adapted into an Oscar-nominated film, the authors of all said books should be invited to the ceremony. This movie was great, but when I watched it in an AMC theatre they maxed out the speakers and it sounded terrible. My gawd this is so- perfect. well achived. Where Moonlight (the movie which received 2017 Best picture) is ugly in its truth, Call Me By Your Name is beautiful and light. However, the topic is very polarizing and this movie is not meant for the Eastern European audience (more a bout it further. Elio and his parents spend their summers in their house in Italy. All his family members are intellectuals: Mr. Perlman, his father, is an archeology professor, his mother - a polyglot and Elio himself is a music genius. The family spends their time either in multi-language discussions or reading books. Every summer his father asks a post-doctorate to come and help him with his work, and here comes Oliver - a beautiful out-of-the-cover-of-a-magazine American. Even though Elio is smart and very grown up for his age, this is the first time in his life he"ll find out a different kind of an emotion. The movie has beautiful scenery of little Italian towns, sunny meadows, clear water and colorful human characters. Even the maid had a personality even though she only said a few words. What wasn"t said in the film, the audience had to understand themselves. To compensate the silence, film has a fantastic soundtrack. Unfortunately, the auditorium was filled by middle aged orangutans. I was surprised to find out that there are still people (yes, in this day and age of information) that don"t read the annotation and go to movies blindly. On the other hand, I did manage to restore some belief in humanity: two ~14 year old girls who sat next to me (even though the movie is 16+ didn"t make a sound. Aand they even exchanged excited commentaries after it. Overall - bravo! There should be more movies like this. The best part of this movie is that we were not forced to watch some pace destroying, forced, gratuitous love story that hollywood like to present. Thinking back to the father"s monologue, doesn"t that tell us about the great obstacle to Elio"s desire and love for Oliver? How his father recommended not to tear that kind of feeling from his heart, instead nurture it. For that matter, Elio was faced with to speak or to die, and then to admit to Oliver not knowing about the things that matter. And then their 6 short weeks together was an obstacle. I"m afraid the review is looking for some kind of punishment on these two for loving each other, but that isn"t the kind of obstacle the story included. I recommend buying the audio book to better understand that. It is amazing. O: Why are you telling me this. E: Cause I thought you should know. O: Because you thought I should know? E: Because I wanted you to know. E: Because there"s no one else I can say this to but you. O: Are you saying what I think you"re saying. I always feel so embarrassed when I watched them, like this love is one of a kind & too private & pure to be shared. They did an amazing job. Because I wanted you to know. 5:29 I was really Wow you two did it but no??. The most elaborate and subtle way to say I love you, I want you, please be mine... They"re so professional! Loved this movie. Succinct, well thought out and informative review. thank you. Timmys "deep in thought" delayed reaction and then cheeky smile around 6:09 gets me every time I watch that clip hahah its like he"s imagining (or reminiscing) something. same Timmy, same. This movie is stunning. the last scene is just breath taking. Strongly recommending everyone to watch Darkest Hour with this film, it is such an unbelievable experience to watch masterpieces like these. THIS PART IS SO IMPORTANT I SWEAR ITS THE ONLY PART THEY TALK ABOUT THEIR FEELINGS UGH. “Why didnt you give me a sign? ” Um you would have noticed one had you not moved when he rubbed your shoulder/back.??. 12:07 I think this is probably the most truthful thing Armie says. It"s none of your damn business. I recently discovered this movie and I"ve been fixated on this scene. I had to watch it three time to understand it. The first time I watched it, I couldn"t grasp what Elio had meant by things that matter. The more I watched, the clearer it became that Elio is coming out to Oliver. This is such an important scene not only because of this outing, but it"s the point in the film where Oliver starts to become true to himself. Oliver buys a pack of cigarettes, shares one, and drags another. He seeks confirmation from Elio about his habit (Not bad, huh? which he hadn"t shared before. It also becomes evident that this dialogue is told in Elio"s perspective. He reveres Oliver for his good looks, his undeniable intelligence, and his arrogante self-assurance. There are two mements by the memorial where Oliver stands with halos over his head- once in front of the corbel arch then again in front of the white awning. (These halo shots actually happen throughout the movie. ) It"s a masterful scene. I mean, the entire movie is. Kimi no namae de Boku wo yonde Free stream online. I wanted his backpack SO BAD & when i finally found it, it was 8,000. rip me. It almost feels as like in another universe/lifetime, they would be exactly like their characters in the movie. Its so beautiful to see the ppl behind the camera. That one-on-one talk between Elio and his father towards the end is one of my favorite scenes of 2017. It was phenomenal. CHRIS CAN YOU CALL ME BY YOUR NAME. You know what things. Oliver: I remember everything Me too. I"m crying. http://yusekinto.duckdns.org/ Hi YTers. Did Armie say No-one pays for being gay in this movie. Is that right Elio? My gosh Armie did you watch the last five minutes of the movies. You don"t think Elio paid for being gay when the person he loves tells him I"m getting married? My heart broke til I shed tears for Elio. And the amazing thing was His parents didn"t come to him in comfort. He was so tally exposed and all alone. Man I wish there had been an alternate ending. While Elio turned to someone for relief, it wasn"t someone for long-standing but rather for sexual release. Oliver on the other hand, made moves on Elio knowing he(Elio) was vulnerable and that he was in a relationship, however off and on. The business of the world around Elio as he is crouched in agony is just stunning. Papa Elio needs you. Go to him.

I know that, when armie explains love no matter your sexuality, that is something I hope to feel and receive from someone????????. You know what things... Omg He sounds like he"s about to cry ??????. Congrats. Lol I love how both of them point out a couple of times how the movie isn"t just about sex and MTV then decides to title an 11 minute interview about the movie and their experiences Timothée Chalamet & Armie Hammer on the Sex Scene In "Call Me By Your Name.

I have literally been looking for the backpack that Elio is wearing for a year and I cant find it anywhere.
Elio"s being reminded/ warned by two things in this scene to not fall for Oliver. the bus is reminding him of that Oliver has to leave soon and that he shouldn"t fall in love with him - the church is telling him that homosexuality is not accepted by society nor by the catholic religion yet he still went for it. but it was worth it. his heart broke when Oliver left but thanks to him he experienced the best love that he could ever find.
I just dont understand how its possible that i cannot get over this movie, how it pops up in my thoughts everyday and makes me feel really strong emotions as if its happened to me, truly a masterpiece.
Beautiful movie. I love it.
Im crying.

I always imagine me and my crush doing this. This movie broke my I still love it. This is life <3. At least we know that even though oliver"s going to marry someone. He"s still deeply in love with Ellio. At least we know that everything they"ve done is crystal clear to oliver. George is my favorite character. This movie has an unforgettable atmosphere. Not only it touches on the awkwardness and absurdity of love, but it also reveals the sadness of it. Perfection and imperfection hand in hand. One of the best movies made in 2017. Simply beautiful and touching. Daj mi tvoje men and women. Now my mom is asking me why i needed a blue buttoned up shirt and a peach????????????.
